What are we putting in our stomachs; fruits, vegetables, meat, and vitamins? So, what is the problem? I wake-up in the morning, eat breakfast, take vitamins, and exercise to keep healthy; however, I am not feeling well and I am gaining weight. Have you noticed how many people in America are gaining weight? It seems that we are out of control with our diet or is the problem genetically modified(GMOs)foods?
I have heard of genetically modified (GMOs) foods, but did not understand the impact they have on my life, so I did the research and found GMOs are foods that have their seed changed in a laboratory. Some people call this process biotechnology. A germ is injected into the gene of the fruits or vegetables and new seeds are developed. This process causes these seeds to become resistant to weed killer and some to cold weather. These new seeds are used to create crops of corn, soybeans, yellow summer squash, zucchini, canola, sugar beets, alfalfa, cotton, and papaya. These GMO products are placed on the shelves of supermarkets, in the fresh food aisle, and can be found in frozen foods, in soups and prepared foods, and vitamins.
We go to the supermarket and purchase fresh or frozen foods and vitamins without knowing how these products were produced. Yes, GMOs may be in our vitamins! If you are taking a vitamin with ascorbic acid listed as Vitamin C then you may be ingesting GMOs, a product made in the laboratory. One major problem in America is that we have no labeling requirements to alarm us of GMO products or ingredients. For example, when purchasing processed foods in the supermarket, if sugar is listed as an ingredient and it does not say pure cane sugar, 100% sugar cane, or organic sugar, then it is most likely a GMO sugar from sugar beets. The good news is that there is a way to identify the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables - by using the Price Lookup code(PLU).learn more & add comments
