As Thomas Jefferson said, "A strong body makes the mind strong." It is a new year and I want to transform my mind and body. My transformation started today, with a brisk 30-minute walk, onion tea, an 8 ounce glass of water, and a protein smoothie for breakfast. I have to retrain myself not to over use sugar. I am detoxing for the first fourteen days of this transformation with

Trader Joe's Complete Body Cleanse. I follow the instructions on the box.

To transform my mind, I am reading one book of interest per month.

In the coming weeks, I will provide great tasting slow-carb recipes/desserts/dinners/lunch/breakfast along with different exercises. Read my transformation and tell me about yours.

Then I made Red Onion Tea. The benefits of drinking onion tea: the onions fights free radicals, onions are loaded with vitamin C, onions regulate blood sugar, and red onions promote cardiovascular health.

1 Large Red Onion

Cut the onion in half. Put the halves into a pot of spring water making sure the onion is covered. Bring to a boil for 10-minutes. Strain the water and drink hot. Red Onion Tea does not taste good, but I want the health benefits.

1 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

2 T Plain Yogurt

1/3 Banana, peeled

1 Small Apple, Cored and halved

¼ cup Frozen Blueberries

1 t Raw Pumpkin Seeds, without shell

1 t Vanilla Flavor, Alcohol Free

1 dash of Cinnamon - to taste

2 Whole Allspice Seeds

Blender

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth/liquefied.
